Jai Veer Hanuman: A Mythological Serial on Sony TV




Jai Veer Hanuman was an Indian TV serial that aired on Sony Entertainment Television in 1995. It was among the first TV serials to be telecast on Sony. It was produced by Padmalya Telefilms Limited. [^1^] It starred Arun Govil as Ram [^2^] and Vindu Singh as Hanuman. [^3^]


The story depicted the journey of Lord Hanuman from his birth to helping Luv and Kush. Hanuman was a humble vaanar (monkey) who was awakened to his divinity and became an immortal legend. He was a devotee of Lord Ram and played a crucial role in the epic Ramayana. He fought against the evil Ravan and his army of demons, and performed many heroic deeds.


The serial was based on the Hindu scriptures and folklore, and featured many special effects and stunts. It also had a musical score composed by Ravindra Jain. The serial was popular among the viewers and received positive reviews from critics. It won four awards and received one nomination.

The serial had a talented cast of actors who played the roles of various characters from the Ramayana. Arun Govil, who had earlier played Ram in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan (1986), reprised his role as the ideal king and husband of Sita. Vindu Singh, the son of wrestler-actor Dara Singh, played the role of Hanuman with enthusiasm and energy. He performed many stunts and acrobatics to portray the strength and agility of Hanuman. Udaya Bhanu played the role of Sita, the devoted wife of Ram and the daughter of King Janak. Bhavani Shankar played the role of Lakshman, the younger brother of Ram and the loyal companion of Hanuman. Dara Singh himself played the role of Kesari, the father of Hanuman and the king of the vaanars. Goga Kapoor played the role of Ravan, the evil king of Lanka and the abductor of Sita. [^1^]


The serial also had many guest appearances by other actors who played important roles in the Ramayana. Some of them were Shyam Sundar Kalani as Sugreev, the brother of Bali and the ally of Ram; Mukesh Rawal as Bali, the king of Kishkindha and the elder brother of Sugreev; Arvind Trivedi as Vali, the son of Indra and the nephew of Ravan; Deepak Jethi as Kumbhakarna, the brother of Ravan and a fierce warrior; Renuka Israni as Mandodari, the wife of Ravan and a virtuous queen; Sudhir Dalvi as Vashishta, the sage and the guru of Ram; Chandrashekhar as Vishwamitra, another sage and a mentor of Ram; Lalita Pawar as Manthara, a maid who instigated Kaikeyi to exile Ram; Rajni Bala as Kaikeyi, one of the wives of King Dasharath and the mother of Bharat; Bal Dhuri as Dasharath, the king of Ayodhya and the father of Ram; Vijay Arora as Indrajit, the son of Ravan and a powerful warrior; Pankaj Dheer as Meghnad, another son of Ravan and a skilled archer; Arun Bakshi as Angad, the son of Bali and a messenger of Ram; and Ramesh Goyal as Vibhishan, another brother of Ravan and a devotee of Ram. The serial was directed by C. S. Rao, who had earlier directed many mythological films such as Jai Santoshi Maa (1975), Jai Mahalaxmi Maa (1976), Jai Shakumbhari Maa (2000), etc. The serial was produced by G. A. Sheshagiri Rao, who was also a veteran film producer and director. The serial had a multi-camera setup and was shot in various locations such as Hyderabad, Mumbai, Jaipur, etc. The serial had a high production value and used many special effects to create realistic scenes such as flying Hanuman, burning Lanka, etc. The serial also had a melodious soundtrack composed by Ravindra Jain, who had also composed music for many other mythological serials such as Ramayan (1986), Shri Krishna (1993), Jai Ganga Maiya (1998), etc. The serial had many songs sung by various singers such as Anuradha Paudwal, Suresh Wadkar, Kavita Krishnamurthy, etc. [^1^] 29c81ba772
